Green Key

With the Green Key logo in the palm of our hand, we are walking the path to a green future - proud to weave the story of sustainable tourism with heart and care for nature.

We are proud that our operations are sustainable and we have been awarded the GREEN KEY sustainability certificate through certification procedures, with the aim of reducing waste and energy consumption in the Guest House Grmovškov dom unit and meeting the criteria for becoming a Zero Waste Hotel. The title is awarded by the contractor, which is the national organisation Zero Waste Slovenia.

Green Key is an environmental/sustainability label, the leading standard of excellence in environmental responsibility and sustainability in the tourism industry. This prestigious eco-label signifies the commitment of companies to adhere to the strict criteria set by the International Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) in certified establishments.

The standards we follow on site:

(At least 90% of all waste is prevented, reused, recycled or composted.)

Analysis of waste streams

(Regular waste audits, tracking the amount and type of waste, setting up a separate collection system at source (rooms, kitchen, laundry, etc.))

Waste prevention

(Measures to reduce food waste, e.g. à la carte, smaller plates, leftovers donations, no single-use plastic products (straws, plastic bottles, plastic shampoos), use of durable packaging, returnable packaging, shampoo dispensers, etc.).

Employee and guest involvement

(Staff training on Zero Waste practices, Signage and instructions for guests on proper waste separation and management, Encouraging guests to reduce consumption (e.g. towel change on request))

Sustainable procurement

(Buying products with minimal packaging and from local, sustainable suppliers, preference for products made from recycled or easily recyclable materials, use of environmentally friendly cleaning products and cosmetics.)

Monitoring and reporting

(Regular reporting on results achieved, management of a Zero Waste Plan with defined targets and indicators, cooperation with an independent assessor or certification organisation)
